Training is all about encouraging changes in people's habits,
behaviour, attitudes and skill sets. We work closely with
customers to help design and run bespoke residential and
non-residential development programmes to boost team working,
communications, problem-solving, decision-making, creativity
and leadership skills. These are events which often win over
hearts and minds from even the most sceptical - and which
offer lots of safe fun too!

Outdoor education, training and recreation promote active learning through direct personal experience and offer excitement, fun and adventure within a framework of safety.
Active learning and adventure outdoors can take place in a variety of environments; rural and urban, local and more remote. Outdoor education, training and recreation involve both young people and adults in a wide variety of experiences, including adventurous activities on land and water and activities with an environmental focus.
CTS uses a range of recognised methodology including skills-focus learning, problem solving, team building and self-reliant journeys and activities, with
a residential experience an especially valued feature.
Some of the outdoor activities we can provide and organise include:
Archery; Indoor & Outdoor Climbing; Hillwalking;
Orienteering; Canoeing; Raft Building; High Ropes; Mountain Biking; Problem Solving
& Team Building; Camping; Zip Wire.

|
|
CTS regularly deliver training and activities for a range of organisations and has developed opportunities for children, young people and adults.
We have extensive experience of
delivering 'enrichment' provision in both primary and
secondary education.
An example of this is the
City of Birmingham Children's University, where,
as a Learning Destination, we have developed a Sport in the Environment module and a Basic First Aid module, both of which being
validated and successfully delivered to children in Year's 5 and 6, from many schools within the city.
CTS are now working with other Children's University areas to
develop and deliver additional modules.
With experience of assisting with
the development, management and support of
Sure Start Children's Centres,
CTS have also worked in partnership with a number of
centres, delivering staff development and training,
as well as organising and facilitating 'Dads and Kids' activities.

RESIDENTIAL OPPORTUNITIES |
| |
CTS organises and delivers residential opportunities for a
range of organisations, within the statutory, voluntary and
private sectors, including FE Colleges, youth clubs and
schools.
Spending time away from the home environment gives children
and young people opportunities to live more independently
alongside others, learning new social skills, making decisions
and sharing free time. They
are often able to take more individual and group ownership of
learning.
Residential experiences can include using outdoor centres,
youth hostels and camping.
The duration of a residential visit offers a unique form of
intensive experience which encourages children and young
people to engage with staff and peers at a deeper level and
build relationships.
In order to maximise the benefits of residential experiences,
CTS offers careful planning and preparation, including work
undertaken with children and young people before and after the
residential experience, which is key to the relevance,
coherence, breadth and depth of learning.
We use a range of residential and activity centres across the
UK, offering various styles of
accommodation
to meet an organisations needs, including working in
partnership with
Blackwell Adventure,
near Bromsgove, Worcestershire and
Bethania Adventure,
Lake Vyrnwy, Powys.
